UEX SUBPROJECT TASKS

TASKS OF UEX SUBPROJECT (Coordinator)

This subproject is divided in eight tasks, four of which are aimed to the experimentation on catalyst preparation and characterization and proposed photocatalytic ozonation processes to remove refractory pollutants of water (aromatic hydrocarbons, pesticides, pharmaceuticals, etc), monitoring water mineralization and treatment of urban and industrial wastewater, the latter coming from pharmaceutical (Esteve Quimica) and chemical (Dow) industries that will send us the corresponding samples to be treated (see EPOs). UVA, visible and solar radiation sources in 1-5 L cylindrical and cylindrical-parabolic composite photoreactors (CPC) will be used. Works will be carried out at the laboratories and pilot plant of the Departamento de Ingeniería Química y Química Física de la UEX though some work will also take place in the laboratories of URV group. In this case, some member of the UEX research group (likely a FPI grant student) will move to the URV to complete some work of task 102 on catalyst preparation and characterization. Likewise, also for FPI grant students it is foreseen some short stay in other foreign or national research centers. These stages will be granted from other grants. Research members working in the different tasks are indicated in the chronogram model of section 4.1. The tasks are the following:

Task 100. Project Coordination. Assignment and specific distribution of works

Task 101. Bibliography monitoring

Task 102. Preparation and characterization of catalysts

Task 103.  Application of prepared catalysts in the photocatalytic ozonation of refractory contaminants of water

Task 104. Application of best catalysts of task 103 in the photocatalytic ozonation of urban and industrial wastewater

Task 105. Comparison of AOPs used. Catalytic ozonation of water refractory pollutants and wastewater with best catalysts tested

Task 106. Plan for results dissemination

Task 107. Training Plan

Task 108. Final Report
